Party Time!!!
After all of the planning, inviting, and buying, the day finally arrived. We had planned on a lot of people showing up, and even factored in that people do not necessarily RSVP these days. I am glad we planned ahead, because we had a boat load of people attend.
With siblings attending, we counted THIRTY-FIVE kids at one point. Everything went very smoothly, and the transitions between activities was seamless! Everyone enjoyed the pinata. The cupcake cakes were a total hit.
We were completely overwhelmed by the gifts that Zoe received! Her Christmas list was almost completely knocked out, thanks to all of our friends.
Zoe was nice to everyone, which made me so proud of her. She made sure that she thanked everyone for the gifts, and for coming to her party.
We met a lot of new friends, and made plans for playdates, and had the opportunity to talk to people we do not ordinarily get the chance to talk to.
It was a great day. Tiring, but great!

so now this is really Thursday and Friday November 17th ...

today was Zoe's parent teacher conference, and to say that we were really happy is an understantement with her progress and her teacher says that she is a delight to have in her class...when we walked in, she said, "oh Zoe, this will be so much fun, because you are so good."
when she talked about Zoe testing high, we brought up, how low she tested before school started, and the teacher, said, "oh I am glad that you brought that up, because we were all talking about this, how she tested so low and now came out so completely different." so, we explained on how, the (and we did not know at the time) teacher's aide, took Zoe alone into the room and would not let me go in, and she asked Zoe, "do you feel like telling me, such and such?" and of course Zoe was shy and she told her no...so, Mrs. Luginbill was surprised on what happened and she says that I should have been allowed to go in the room with her, and maybe it would have come out better...but, all turns out so well anyway...we love her teacher and all that she has taught her so far...

mom had to work both days, so Zoe went to FUMPS with mom and of course, loves it there...Mrs. Sherman's daughter, Morgan was also off school and Zoe loves her so much so they got to see each other...

OK, we are really backed up, so this is really Wednesday, November16th (?)

Today was Zoe's cupcake party at school and the teacher requested that we bring them at lunchtime, which is 10:30...so, Grandpa and I brought them to the cafeteria, and we sat and had lunch with Zoe and her classmates...the thing that strikes me about this class, is that each child is very caring and considerate...they all talked to us and had Grandpa open their things in their lunches...Zoe passsed out her cupcakes and all of the kids liked them and had to tell Zoe happy birthday...
so, after cupcakes, we took Zoe to Carl's Jr...this was the first time I have eater in a week after having the flu...

Today is really Tuesday the 14th...

once again, Zoe got a ride...hopefully will feel better after the holiday and can walk once again...

the new letter of the week is O and the song is about Oscar the octopus, cute, cute....

when I went to pick Zoe up this afternoon, Malik's dad talked at length to me and he is very understanding about foster kids, ending in adoptions, etc...

after class, CAiley and Zoe were playing so cute in the yard that I stayed a few minutes and let them play in the leaves, too cute...

we picked mom up and went to the party store and got the pinata for the party, more plates, etc...then we went out to lunch and to Ralph's to get ingredients for cupcakes for the class...

she got a green ticket...

after nap, Mom and Zoe made the cupcakes to take to class for her birthday...we frosted them with funfetti and put care bear candies on top...
we also made another trip to Von's to order more cupcakes for Saturday...

So this is really Monday November 13th...

Grandma is still not feeling well, so good luck for Zoe that Grandpa drives her to school...Mommy actually walks her to the classroom...

Last week they learned about K, and to hear Zoe sing the K song is darling...I will write the words when she once again sings it, since I have forgotten the words...

Seems like a lot of people are coming to her party, now Gaby, Rose, Delia, and Jesse are coming, sounds like her party is the social gathering of the year so far...

Zoe wore her new Gymboree kitty sweater with the matching dress and socks and Samantha said she got a lot of compliments on it this morning...

when we picked Zoe up, she was grouchy, and she told me that if I wasn't nice, I could not go to her party...so I told her that grouchy kids could not go to their own parties...her is her reply,
"Grandma, this is America, and it is unlegal for kids not to go to their own parties..."

she got a green ticket...

Friday, Saturday and Sunday, November 10th, 11th and 12th...

there was no school...am reserving this space for Samantha to tell what they did...

Grandpa drove us once again, and if I am not careful, I might enjoy this too much...I NEED TO WALK...will try really hard to get back to it on Monday...No school tomorrow, YEAH...maybe we all can get some sleep...usually on weekends, Zoe is up at the normal time, she cannot sleep in on weekends...

Gave Zoe's teacher a letter yesterday, expressing our gratitude for all she has done for Zoe this year already...Zoe already, in 11 weeks has come so far...we are very pleased with her teacher...we were so worried all summer about where Zoe was going to be placed...we had heard horror stories about certain teachers, and we were concerned...especially after being soooooo spoiled at the preschool...Mrs. Luginbill is a very good teacher...she said, that she is perceived as being strict or mean, but it takes being a little strict, especially at first to get the boundries set...it is very apparent that the kids see it also...when the teacher was not there one day, and the class was coming back from ELD, our class with a substitute, were very well behaved...and I could not say that for all of the classes...some of the kids from other classes were running all over the playground and not one of them was from our class...
so, when I saw Mrs. Luginbill this morning, I gave her the some printables we had done for the class, and she thanked me for the nice letter and said this is why she teaches...she said that she showed it to her teaching partner and said that she started crying...when she said that I also started crying...
we printed Veteran's Day coloring pages for the class...I thought maybe the day might pass for some of the kids without them knowing what the day was actually about...since we are a military family, Zoe understands the whole Veteran's thing, and I hope others know also...the teacher said that she might make time in class to color them...we also made enough for Mrs. Sherman, whom I am off to help this morning...
thought Zoe looked pretty cute, if I do say so myself...I found this cute skirt at Goodwill and tried to sell it on ebay, and it would not sell...but, one day when I looked at it, I saw something in it and a new creation for Zoe was born...see what I mean?????

will have to keep a new list to keep track of all the rsvps for her birthday party from school...other Zoe is coming, she is so excited, she said...her birthday is Dec. 5th and is also having a party...Rose is probably coming...

Zoe was very excited when we picked her up, as she got the homework raffle and got a pack of gummy bears...that was great news...Sian came to pick Zoe up also and always is the first in the room to get Zoe...
Zoe got a green ticket...

when we went thru her back pack, there was the cutest little booklet that the class did, that says to thank a Veteran...it was so nice to see them do something for Veterans...coming out of class, many of the kids told Zoe thanks for the Veteran's picture that she brought...Zoe is going to give her thank a Veteran's booklet to her Grandpa...

Zoe and Sian played outside till Samantha got home...they are getting along so good and play together so cute now...maybe Zoe appreciates that Sian is growing up and can talk now...

Grandpa drove us to school today, as I am still not feeling real well...Zoe was happy as I don't think she likes walking all that well...
We got there a little early and were practically the first ones there...we even got there before the teacher...Kyle was crying, and Zoe and Britany tried their best to make him feel good...Zoe and Britany played ball back and forth, it was cute...
Mrs. Luginbill said she will not need me until after Thanksgiving, I wish I could do more...but, am sure Mrs. Sherman will want me...
Turns out, Juliette did get an invitation, her mom said it was in her backpack...still felt bad that she was upset yesterday, when she thought she didn't get one...her mom is due with her baby brother any day now, and it makes me remember back when my own kids were little...she hopes the baby will at least wait until Friday to come...

Grandpa was back from the hospital, so I did not have to walk to get Zoe...when I walked into the classroom, and the teacher told Zoe she could go, she had to give hugs to most of the kids still left there...the teacher thought it was cute...Cailey's mom said that they most likely will be at Zoe's party...1st rsvp...yeah...Zoe is so excited...it is the 1st birthday party in the kindergarten class...Zoe said she played with Cailey today...

Zoe got a green ticket...yesterday she got treasure chest and got a really pretty marker...

Since there is no school on Friday, homework is due tomorrow, so after her nap, since mommy is not feeling good, Zoe had to do that...she helped Grandma clean the gutter first...

Tuesday, November 07, 2006

so, today Zoe brought her birthday party invitations to school to hand out, and she was very excited...Mrs. Luginbill let her go into the room early to put the invitations in the cubbies...

Zoe got picked up from school by Austin's mom, and she said that Juliette was upset that she did not get an invitation, but am pretty sure we gave to each child...told Sam just in case to send to Juliette again...Zoe said that she got hugged hard from the girls cause they were excited about the party...sounds like Zoe was popular, cause of the upcoming party...she said she had a lot of people to play with today...

she got a green ticket, and also a parent teacher conference scheduled for next week...it will be exciting to see where she is...

the color of the week is rainbow...

my picture for today of Zoe came out very blurry, sorry...it was cute too, of her holding her invitations...

she went to FUMPS today as Mom had lunch bunch...

Today is Monday, November 6th...

it was a little hard for Zoe to go to school today as she didn't go on Friday...Grandma did not feel good at all, so Mommy took Zoe to school, which she doesn't get to do very often...

Zoe wore her new Laura Ashley sundress, as summer has seem to come to Riverside once again and it was in the 90's...when is this going to end???

Grandpa went to get Zoe from her classroom, and it was kind of cute to see the 2 of them walking hand in hand to the car...

Zoe said that she played with Gaby and Cailey and Juliette today...

She got a green ticket...

Instead of having all weekend to do her homework, she only got it today, and she only has 4 days to get it done, well, really only 3 days since there is no school on Friday...

Mommy had a staff meeting and wanted Zoe to come to her school, but Grandma and Grandpa offered to take her to the movies and we let her make a choice...she, chose the movies and we went and saw Flushed Away...she, of course, was very good at the movies and she totally enjoyed it...she laughed many many times...once we got there, she said that she was starving, so, she ate a hot dog, popcorn and an icee...the guy ahead of us in line, liked Zoe and gave us a free candy coupon...am surprised that she didn't have a stomach ache...

Halloween! At Last!

Zoe at Castle Park for their Halloween celebration.

My little witchy-poo!

Trick or treating with Geoffrey.

The Boogie-Man in the bushes.
(She never knew he was there!)

Our favorite time of year, finally! Zoe had been so excited and anxious for Halloween night. It was made even better because Dave, Winona, and their son, Geoffrey were able to come along with us.
We started the night out with trunk or treating at a church here in town. The kids had a blast looking at all of the decorated cars, and the walked away with half of a grocery bag full of candy.

By the time we got home at 6:30, Grandma and Min-Min were already running out of candy! So Zoe let us empty her treat bag into the bowl. We ate yummy chili dogs that Grandma makes every year for us. Then we set out for trick or treating around the neighborhood.

The neighborhood was packed full of hundreds and hundreds of kids being driven in from other areas, so at some houses, we had to wait in lines to get candy!

There were a few really cool haunted houses, where the owners went all out, and dressed up with monster make-up and everything.

We came back, ate a little, then took Sian with us down our street, and the next street over. A lot of the houses had turned their lights off because they had run out of candy.

By the end of the night, we were giving out fruit snacks and crackers! Geoffrey and Zoe spent the rest of the night playing chase with Min Min on the front lawn, and passing out candy to other kids.

We had a good night, but it was nice to get to our own house, and wond down from all of the excitement!

Now, I am going to put Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday all together...

On Wednesday, Mark was too tired to walk with us, but Valerie was waiting for us...we counted empty candy papers on the way to school...
I told Mrs. Luginbill that she should be proud of our class, the way they all stood in line so good when she was not there...

on Thursday, I had a doctors appointment, so Karen picked Zoe up from school for us, and we were worried because there was a substitute, and maybe (it was a young guy) he would not give Zoe to Karen but it all worked out all right...

on Friday Zoe was clingy and weepy, and didn't feel real well, so Samantha kept her home and took her to FUMPS with her...Zoe always has a good time there seeing the teachers, especially her favorite, Mrs. Sherman...

Uncle Min Min bought Zoe some stickers and she asked me to read them to her...they were Halloween stickers and one said Boo...so, I told her, and she said, "Grandma, you need to put more feeling into saying it, cause see there is an exclamation point at the end." I thought that was funny, especially since she can't even say exclamation correctly...

She thought that the substitute teacher was kind of cute on Thursday...he had long hair and she even noticed that he was wearing doc martens...

This is really Tuesday October 31st HAPPY HALLOWEEN...

so, this morning at school was going to be the kindergarten Halloween parade, and I did not read the memo that said the kids were to wear the costumes to school...Samantha did not really want Zoe to wear the autumn fairy costume, for fear something would happen to it...so, we talked Zoe into wearing the costume she had from last year, which is a really nice princess dress that I had bought from Old Navy and it is still in great shape...
so, Zoe wore a denim jumper, with orange striped tee and matching capris and orange shoes...I am stupid and did not think ahead as to would the shoes go ok with her princess costume??? well, they didn't...we walk up to the playground and Zoe sees all of the kids with the costumes on, and she felt kind of bad...so, we changed into her costume and it was apparent that the shoes looked ridiculous with the pink dress...let me just say, that some of those kids (a good portion) were so decked out with costumes...I have never in my life seen such nice costumes...)
the parade was supposed to be at 8, so I thought I could run home and get some shoes that were appropriate with the dress and I could actually be back in time for the parade...I ran home, and the whole time thought I would have a heart attack...have never run so fast in my life...get home, get the shoes, wake Grandpa up to take me back to school, & IT WAS BEFORE 8 AM , and the parade was already over...they decided to just do it as the kids lined up for class...I WAS SO DISAPPOINTED...thank goodness Grandpa waited for me, so I did not have to walk once again...
came home and laid down, and Karen came over...she also missed the parade taking Andrew to high school...we were both just a little mad...
Zoe took treat bags for everyone in her class and so did several other kids...
she got a green ticket...

now, I will let Samantha write about Halloween...
